EDUCATED BOOK COVER CONTEST

Each year at USC, they have the "First Year Reading Experience" for the freshman class. I got the opportunity to compete in the book cover redesign for 2020 and ended up placing top three. I shot the image used on my cover in the USC library and chose to flip it horizontally to support the text. Since the mountains are a important part of symbolism throughout the book, I chose to create a minimal moutain illustration to place behind my text. I chose a serif font for the title because I wanted it to appear more distinguished, while also complimenting the modern sub header information and mountains.

I took this photo in the USC library and edited the colors in light room. I also used a paint brush in photoshop to darken the walk way to help enhance the text placement.
